11oz Higgins PT-658 Oregon White Mug
PT-658 is a sight to behold! Built at the end of WWII by Higgins Industries in New Orleans, it was finished too late to see action and after the war was used by the US Navy for other tasks until 1958 when it sold to a private owner who converted it into a pleasure craft and used it for a time but allowed it to fall into disrepair. In 1994 PT-658 was acquired by the folks who formed "Save The PT Boat, Inc." with the goal of restoring the 658 to its original condition at the end of WWII and in 2004 PT-658 was once again an operating Higgins PT Boat. Indeed, PT-658 is currently the only restored and operating on the water WWII PT Boat in the World! From the photos we've seen, they've done a magnificent job of resurrecting this proud beauty from the rotting hulk she had become! When we saw the PT-658 badge on her Facebook page we were surprised to see a poor copy of the Disney Mosquito Fleeet emblem being used and immediately thought "This looks like a job for YKO Studio!" and in short order, Jon got to work replacing the image being used with one he had restored and colorized for use on our mugs and shirts.
